There are plenty of enjoyable things about working with cigars, but if I have to decide the most enjoyable it would definitely be the moment a person who is new to the cigar world steps into the humidor and asks to be guided into choosing what cigar will they smoke,. Understand their preferences and taste and your reward is a satisfied customer and a new fellow cigar lover.
I never really approached the cigar world with great interest until a friend of mine, a cigar connoisseur, introduced me to it from a different prospective, gradually and with intelligence. It was then that I discovered the real pleasure of smoking a cigar.
My first Totalmente a Mano Tripa Larga was a Cohiba Maduro 5 Magicos with a Hoegarden, the Belgian beer. I do that again sometimes, a pleasant hour long trip down memory lane.
The best advice I could give to someone starting to smoke cigars would be not to be afraid to leave your mind as a white canvas. Try different things, do not stick to one brand and just because a cigar is believed to be a good cigar it doesn't mean you should like it. You smoke cigars for your own pleasure to your own liking and no one can tell you what to like or not.
At this moment in time my 3 favourite cigars are: - Hoyo de Monterrey Grand Epicure (2013 Limited Edition) - Partagas Serie C No.3 (2012 Limited Edition) - Romeo y Julieta Churchill Reserva ((2013 release)
Becoming a Master in Havana Cigars has surely helped a lot in my profession. I have learnt many things I did not know before, and you also understand the amount of work and care that goes into every Habanos produced, and you learn to transmit this understanding to the people coming to have a cigar. A Habanos it is not a bunch of tobacco leaves rolled together, it is a moment in time where you savour the knowledge, culture and history of a Country.
