It's a privilege to work with a product I genuinely enjoy. Cigars have a calming effect that brings people together, making every conversation and debate a pleasure.
I grew up around cigars with a basic appreciation for the craft, but it wasn’t until I moved to London — where people from all over the world admired them — that my passion to learn everything truly ignited.
My first cigar was a Cohiba—if I remember correctly, a Siglo VI. Not exactly the best choice for a young guy just hoping for a good night. I didn’t enjoy it much, but I managed to smoke about half, so I suppose it still counts as my first stick.
I know double coronas look attractive but please start with manageable sizes on the light side this will allow you to have a more gradual development making your journey more enjoyable.
Given the chance I will almost always choose a Trinidad Topes, the size and consistency makes it enjoyable every time. San Cristobal de la Habana, la Fuerza the smoothest of this blend offers a very subtle but flavourful smoke which is always appreciated, and lastly, Por Larrañaga Galanes a hidden gem. A 30 minutes cigar with a creamy and complex blend perfect for those early afternoons when the clock is ticking
Achieving the title of Master of Habanos is a goal when working with cigars. It’s a recognition that not only honours your knowledge but also boosts your confidence to grow in the profession.
