Cigar lovers from all around the globe have descended on Cuba this week to take part in the XIV Habanos Festival which runs from 27th February to 2nd March. Enthusiasts attending the festival will have the opportunity to visit tobacco plantations in Vuelto Abajo, Pinar del Rio and the iconic cigar factories of El Laguito, the Cohiba Factory and La Corona, head of the Romeo y Julieta Brand in Havana. Attendees will also be able to enjoy the launch of exciting new products planned for release later this year.
Showcased this year are the Cohiba Pirámides Extra, a brand new vitola measuring 6 2/7” (160mm) by 54 ring gauge and featuring a new band.
This years Habanos Festival Gala Evening will see the launch of the Romeo y Julieta Churchill Reserva 2008, the first reserva for the brand. Production will be limited to 5,000 boxes.
The Gala Evening will also see a new vitola added to the Romeo y Julieta portfolio, this being the Romeo y Julieta Petit Churchill, measuring 4” (102mm) by 50 ring gauge.
The Festival concludes with an annual Grand Humidor Auction, which sees unique, handmade humidors auctioned off in aid of the Cuban Health System.
