The world launch of the Ramón Allones Allones No.2 took place at precisely 6:30pm on Wednesday 19th August simultaneously at more than 35 separate events across all parts of the UK.
On a unique night for the UK cigar scene these events were hosted by the network of Havana Cigar Specialists that stretch across the length and breadth of the country and most were held remotely, using online platforms. Some venues, where space permitted, were able to hold face to face tastings.
Six-hundred launch packs were sent out in preparation for the event. Each contained one of the new cigars, some Hine Cigar Reserve Cognac with a cognac glass, three bespoke chocolates created by Vincent Zanardi (Executive Pastry Chef at 5 Hertford Street), a EMS cigar cutter, EMS cigar matches, a booklet including information on all of the products and a certificate of attendance.
At the agreed moment everyone started a video (see below) that included a welcome message from Jemma Freeman (Executive Chairman of H&F) and José Antonio Cejas Diaz (H&F Corporate Director). There followed interviews with key members of the Cuban cigar industry as well as footage of the cigars being made in Cuba.
Guests then settled down to enjoy being among the first to smoke the Ramón Allones Allones No.2, accompanied by the cognac and chocolates, selected to promote different aspects of the cigar throughout its development.
The Ramón Allones Allones No.2 is a 2019 Limited Edition from Habanos S.A, and a campana sized cigar – 5 ½” (140mm) x 52 ring gauge. It is presented in Special Presentation Boxes (SPB’s) of ten and is now available from La Casa del Habanos, Havana Cigar Specialists and other select venues in Britain.
With 600 people taking part, the event will go down as the largest Havana cigar launch the UK has ever seen and one of the largest in the world, outside of Cuba.
It was a remarkable evening only made possible through the support, enthusiasm and ingenuity of the UK cigar community.
Below is a brief glimpse of some of the events that took place around the UK on the night.
