New Newcastle Store Opens it’s Doors
The family behind Brucciani (Carlisle) Ltd has opened the doors on their latest venture, a cigar store based in the heart of Newcastle city centre.
The new store, aptly named Cuban Cigar Club, seems certain to become a firm favourite among cigar smokers in the North of England. They have built a walk-in humidor (10 sq meters) stocked with a comprehensive collection of Cubans cigars, including many of the UK Regional Editions and Limited Editions from the past few years. They have even cracked open a few boxes of the recently launched Cohiba Behikes in celebration of the opening.
Brucciani has been a family run business for over 100 years so they approach this new venture with a wealth of experience and know-how. When Andrew Corrieri (Proprietor) talks about his ambition to create a new haven for cigar smokers in the area, it is well worth listening to what he has to say.
“Opening a new cigar merchants is very exciting for us and the idea has been in the background for some time.” He explained. “For many years we have benefitted from regular customers travelling across the North East to our Carlisle store and we felt there was a real opportunity to offer the traditional tobacconist experience in the area, one that has been missing from the North East for some time. Newcastle was chosen for its’ central location and excellent transport links and after an exhaustive property search by my brother Chris we have found a superb site on Grainger Street in the city centre.”
When asked about the objectives of the new store he explained that “We aim to offer a truly unique shopping experience with an extensive range of cigars and related accessories. Plans are already in place to host cigar evenings with the potential to have a regular in-store monthly Cigar Club”.
The store has been specifically designed to have a gentleman’s club feel about the place, with comfortable armchairs for customers to recline in and distinctive services such as individually engraved personal humidors available for regular customers to store and age cigars in.
Justin Clayton (Store Manager) said “We intend to offer traditional, personalised customer service within a contemporary environment.” He added “Personalised service is something that has, to some extent, been lost from the high street. We intend to bring this back, but with a modern twist”
With plans underway for regular cigar evenings, in-store sampling sessions and various other innovative ways of creating an genuine cigar community within the centre of Newcastle.
