The Masters of Havana Cigars met for the first time since 2019 to enjoy an afternoon of good food, fine wines, rare Hine Cognac and, of course, great Havana cigars.
By passing the Higher Certificate the Masters of Havana Cigars have all proved themselves to be among the most knowledgeable and experienced people within the UK Havana cigar market. They represent many of the finest shops, private members clubs, hotels and bars in the country.
Since the first exam in 2013, Hunters & Frankau has organised events with the Masters specifically designed to explore the finer points of the Havana cigar trade. For example, in the past, there have been presentations from guest speakers on drink and cigar pairings, cigar blending and blind tastings, Havana cigar history and an exploration of the global cigar market.
All designed to keep them at the cutting edge of Havana cigar knowledge and service while also enriching their overall knowledge.
Having been unable to meet for the past two years due to the pandemic, Hunters & Frankau invited them to lunch at the Boisdale Belgravia to catch up, discuss the planned Masters events for 2022, and sample the newly released limited edition, Hine Cigar Reserve XO Cognac, 25th Anniversary Edition.
The day began with a champagne reception, accompanied by the H. Upmann Half Corona, an ideal preprandial cigar and perfect afternoon smoke. After speeches from Jimmy McGhee (H&F Head of Communication & Training) and Jose Antonio Cejas Diaz (H&F Corporate Director) lunch was served in the restaurant’s famous back bar. After lunch, but before heading up to the cigar terrace, Quitterie Perrachon (Sales Manager & Brand Ambassador) introduced the Hine Cigar Reserve XO Cognac, 25th Anniversary Edition, and explained in more detail the story behind the blend.
Everyone then moved to the cigar terrace where they were offered a sample of the new Cognac, paired with the Romeo y Julieta Linea de Oro Hidalgos.
