It has often been said that the best things come to those who wait and, considering that the latest new arrival from Havana, the H. Upmann No.2 Reserva, was originally slated for release in 2014, it seems that this truism is being set to work once again, this time within the cigar world.
The H. Upmann No.2 Reserva is a classic Pirámides size – measuring 6 1/8” (156mm) x 52 ring gauge – and is available in lacquered boxes of 20 cigars. 5,000 of these boxes have been produced for the world market.
As with all other Reserva releases, all of the tobacco used in the construction of this cigar have been aged for three years. This means that Reservas (along with Gran Reservas) are some of the only Cuban cigars that have been made using tobacco from a single harvest. In this case the tobacco used to make this remarkable cigar was all from the 2010 harvest (Cosecha).
The cigar still demonstrates all of the structure, balance and character that won it Cigar Aficionado’s “Cigar of the Year” accolade back in 2010. However, the extra age that these tobaccos have been allowed to acquire has added another level of sophistication and maturity to the smoke, making this an impressive cigar in every way – one well worth waiting for…
