Cigars come to The Connaught

The Connaught hotel on Carlos Place has just opened The Connaught Cigar Merchants. This intimate room is accessed, speakeasy-style, via their Red Room bar and offers a selection of fine Havana cigars and exemplary spirits.

Head of Cigars Adam Lajca and his team are on hand to guide you through their collection of nearly 200 different Cuban cigars spanning regular production to extremely rare and vintage varieties. They can also help you select the perfect drink to compliment your chosen Havana.

The room has pippy oak panelling, ceiling and joinery. An Italian crafted humidor spans the length of one wall, brimming with boxes upon boxes of cigars, whilst the opposite wall is home to a collection of spirits, kept in individual lockers.

Seven tan leather and walnut club chairs sit in the space and tables are made with brass and thick resin tops in pink, with a smoky affect running through to reflect the cigar smoke. An outstanding feature is the Swiss extraction system which through the floor and ceiling, silently and constantly cleans the air to stop the space from getting too smoky.

This makes it an ideal place for guests to sample Havanas before deciding on which boxes they wish to add to their collection.

The Connaught Cigar Merchants opening times are 4pm – 1am Monday to Saturday and 2pm – 10pm on Sunday.
