CASC Shop opens in Aberdeen
Bill and Paul West, the father and son team behind Aberdeen’s famous CASC Bar, have opened a new CASC Shop in the city and now offer their Cigars, Ales, Scotch and Coffee – CASC – to take away.
Their latest venture actually offers considerably more than the name suggests. The shop boasts a well-stocked walk-in humidor, over 150 varieties of Scotch whisky including many rare expressions. It also has a comprehensive selection of specialty spirits including gin, mezcal, rum, tequila, and a full range of craft beer. Coffee, using a unique blend from roasters in Glasgow, is also on offer.
The new shop is located at 244 King Street, Aberdeen (AB24 5BW), just a few minutes walk from the original bar. It has already proved a big hit with regulars currently unable to visit the bar due to lock-down but is also picking up plenty of new customers every day.
CASC bar opened in December 2013 and was created in response to a gap the West’s had found in the market. As Paul says “There were whisky bars out there, the odd craft beer bar, various cigar lounges and thousands of cafes, but nowhere that had all four under one roof. We wanted a solution to our problem and CASC was it.”
With the ever-growing popularity of the bar and online customers increasing daily, a new type of CASC seemed to, once again, offer a solution to a problem and the shop was born.
Although the shop originally opened at the end of 2020, a burst boiler in an upstairs apartment flooded the store forcing it to close just four weeks after opening. Fortunately, the damage was quickly repaired and the shop reopened.
When asked to describe CASC, Paul replied:
“We’re a bunch of hedonists which is reflected in the brand and what we offer. It is an extension of who we are, and now our motley crew of faithful staff. Our passion ensures that you’ll receive the best service from our incredible staff, with zero compromises. We love whisky and beer, but even more so with a good stogie in our chops.”
