Boisdale Set to Open New Venture in Canary Wharf
Boisdale, the world’s leading Scottish restaurant and whisky bar, which specialises in live jazz, blues and soul – not to mention the very finest Cuban cigars, will be launching its third and largest premises to date in April 2011. The venue is located at Cabot Place West in Canary Wharf and is set to become the Boisdale flagship for the UK and a must-see destination for all cigar smokers within the capital and well beyond.
The team at Boisdale have included a 16 square metre walk-in humidor (with members’ cigar lockers) that will hold a vast selection of fine Habanos including an impressive collection of Pre embargo and vintage Havana cigars, supplied by Mitchell Orchant as part of the Boisdale Orchant Seleccion range. Luxurious leather armchairs and sofas will accommodate cigar shop customers and allow customers to sample cigars indoors before making a purchase.
There is also an awning-covered heated terrace with tartan upholstered armchairs and sofas, supplied with tartan blankets that will seat up 42 guests whilst the members only area on the opposite side will accommodate 22 and provide the ultimate in comfortable al fresco smoking.
As one would expect from a Boisdale venue, there will also be a sharp focus on fine food, great whisky and live music. The menu has been created by Michelin star trained Executive Head Chef, Andy Rose and will feature ingredients of the finest provenance primarily sourced from Scotland as well as throughout the British isles. There will also be a Caviar & Oyster Bar that will serve a definitive range of oysters, Hebridean shellfish, Scottish smoked salmon and a superb range of caviar from Gourmet House.
The 12 metre long bar, in the restaurant on the 2nd floor will hold over 1,000 bottles of malt whisky and will undoubtedly be one of the most extensive and magnificent whisky bars in the world. None other than Jools Holland, the legendary piano maestro and ex-Squeeze musician has been confirmed as the Boisdale Patron of Music. With the ability to seat up to 220 guests, a world-class sound system and Jools Holland’s music guardianship, Boisdale of Canary Wharf is set to become the spiritual home to Boisdale jazz, blues and soul and one of London’s most inspirational music venues.
Also, as with the superb terrace at Boisdale Belgravia, Canary Wharf intends to run a series of Tutored Tastings for members and non-members alike. Full details of these events shall be listed on the events section of this site once confirmed.
