47 UK launch parties for the Larrañaga 47
The 1st of November saw the latest UK Habanos Regional Edition, the Por Larrañaga Larrañaga 47, launched simultaneously at 47 events across the UK. They were hosted by select Havana Cigar Specialists, Havana cigar retailers and hospitality venues.
The synchronised events all began at precisely 6:30pm, in venues up and down the country, encompassing all four parts of the United Kingdom.
The evening began with a short video from Jemma Freeman (Executive Chairman of Hunters & Frankau) and José Antonio Cejas Diaz (Hunters & Frankau Corporate Director) introducing the Larrañaga 47 and inviting people to light their cigars.
Por Larrañaga was established in 1834, and today is the oldest Cuban cigar brand still in production. Its light to medium-bodied blend has long been a favourite of UK cigar smokers.
The cigar measures 7” (178mm) x 47 ring gauge and, although it is known as a Julieta No.2 in the factories of Cuba, most people know it simply as the “Churchill” size. This is because in the early 1950’s Romeo y Julieta produced a cigar of this size named “The Churchill” in honour of the great man. This traditional “Churchill” size is an ideal foil for the brand’s delicate blend.
Uniquely among UK Regional Editions the Larrañaga 47 is presented in Semi Boîte Nature (SBN) boxes of fifty cigars. As with some previous UK Regional Editions, an old papeleta from the brand has been recreated to dress the outside of the box.
Just 1,500 boxes have been made, 75,000 cigars in total and they are available exclusively in the U.K, from the network of Las Casas del Habano, Havana Cigar Specialists and selected hospitality venues.
All Por Larrañaga cigars are handmade using long-filler tobacco leaves harvested from the world-famous Pinar del Rio region of Cuba.
