Befitting the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the AITS, Hunters & Frankau presented the latest special selection of cigars from its House Reserve.
The collection comprises cigars that have been matured for a minimum of ten years. Each box carries a 10+, 15+, or 20+ designation to indicate the number of years since the cigars were rolled, boxed, and dispatched from the factories of Cuba.
Some of the releases in this collection are distinguished by additional characteristics, including first releases, discontinued lines, regional editions, and limited editions.
Each year since the turn of the century, Hunters & Frankau has set aside a number of particularly noteworthy boxes of Havana cigars for ageing. They have been carefully stored in the company’s warehouse under ideal conditions of temperature and humidity, overseen by the Warehouse Manager.
Aged cigars offer a more elegant and subtle smoking experience. The maturation process helps to soften the tannins in the tobacco leaves, and connoisseurs often find that the cigars become more rounded with time. Flavour will vary depending on the brand, vitola, and number of years of ageing, provided the cigars have been kept in suitable conditions.
Before any box is released from the House Reserve, every cigar is individually inspected by fully trained quality technicians, and each box is stamped “Revisado”, meaning “Checked”.
A Release Certificate, signed by the Warehouse Manager, is affixed to the outside of every box, confirming the date of manufacture in Cuba, the date of release from House Reserve, and the rarity categories applicable to its contents.
Finally, each individual cigar is adorned with a foot band confirming that it forms part of the Aged & Rare collection from Hunters & Frankau’s House Reserve.
