An Edmundo with a couple of pints of London Pride, paired with some inane banter with a couple of friends.... difficult to beat for me (at least where cigars & drinking are involved)http://cigars.co.uk/sites/all/modules/smileys/packs/example/wink.png
Hi mike. Sitting in the lobby bar of the sol rio in guardlavaca near holguin cuba drinking cubay cuba libre's with a Trinidad laguuito especial while the local band sing salsa tunes about che realy takes some beating!. But that said a quiet summer evening in the garden in sunny swindon smoking a romeo y juilieta short churchill and drinking havana club on ice isn't bad. mmmm sounds like a plan!.
A good well kept real ale for me at the moment Wadworths 6X, Abbot Ale etc. Such a good combination (which did surprise me a little). I have not bothered yet to try anything else; I have only been smoking cigars with any regularity since last October. However, I am sure this will change. Just give me time.
Paul.
I enjoyed a pint of Tribute ale with an El Rey del Mundo Petit Corona a couple of weeks ago. A carefully selected spirit might have worked, but it would have been all too easy to overpower that cigar without due care.
Can understand Drambuie but it's a real sipping drink so I'm afraid I would get through too much. It's Courvoisier or Hennesey for me. New to this people so am at point of sampling various, have done Spain where Cigars about half price compared to this country. Did Dom Rep also and found Cohiba Siglo 3's actually Cuban but really enjoyed them
I bought a lovely rum from Colombia - the Ron Viejo de Caldas eight year aged reserve that compliments a Fonseca Cosaco just beautifully. Both are just so smooth on the palette and it's just such a pleasure when the sun is out on a cloudless day.
Hi everyone!
I'm new here, what do you suggest with a Montecristo edmundo?
Between Rum(Matusalem reserva),Cognac(Hine cigar reserve)and a nice aged Port?
Those are my fav drinks.
Thank you very much for any suggestion

I agree with SteveGrif, it all depends on the mood, occasion and cigar. However, I have always found a good crisp champagne the perfect accompaniment. On the other hand, port, red wine, whiskey and rum go down well. I have always found beer, larger or bitter no good. They always seem to 'wash away' the flavour of the smoke.
Going on the choice you have given me daviderenna I would go for the Hine (cigar reserve), but all three will work.
Like everything else in life I suppose if you are enjoying yourself you are doing it right!
The single best accompaniment i can find is Ron Zacapa 23yr old rum, it's in a league of it's own and fully compliments most cigars for me. Drink it straight up, no ice, at the end of a meal and you'll never look back. Yet to try the Centenary Zacapa, but will report back when I do.
Everything that I've read above sounds just fine guys congrats.
As for me, I'm enjoying a Bolivar corona extra with a fine rum which is from Puerto Rico and is called, Ron del Barrilito, 3 stars. Great with a fine Habano.
Cheers.
